David Edward Cohen, of Groton, Connecticut, passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 34 after a valiant fight with cancer. Born on October 6, 1989, David brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. David will be forever missed by his parents, Judy and Ken, siblings, Linda and her husband Mark and Steven and his wife Danielle, his nieces and nephew, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
David's passion for learning was evident from his early years. He first graduated with a BS degree in Physics from St. Lawrence University before graduating with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. His dedication to the field culminated in a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. David's academic achievements laid the groundwork for his successful career as an electrical engineer for ten years at General Dynamics Electric Boat and then at Collins Aerospace, where he was respected by colleagues for his knowledge, insight, and integrity.
David was a man of many interests. He brought the same passion and precision to his leisure as he did to his work. An enthusiastic sports fan, David enjoyed collecting memorabilia and both spectating and participating in sports, especially when it came to playing golf, football, and lacrosse. David was also a culinary enthusiast, often found cooking for friends and family, a testament to his love of sharing and caring for those around him.
A frequent traveler to the Adirondacks, David found solace in the serenity of nature. It was among those mountains and lakes that he often reflected on life's beauty and the importance of preserving the moments with family and friends that matter.
David's legacy is one of laughter, generosity, and kindness. A man who was as selfless as he was funny, David left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and the many friends who were blessed to know him. His thoughtfulness was felt in every gesture, every word, and every smile he shared.
As we bid farewell to David, we celebrate a life lived with kindness, love, and a little bit of witty sarcasm. His memory will be carried forward in the stories told, the lessons learned, and in his kindness to others. David's impact on the world will continue to resonate, much like the notes of a beautiful melody that lingers long after the song has ended. Though his time with us was far too short, the richness of his spirit and the depth of his love is a testimony to the impact one person can have on the world. He will be forever missed.
